Protect your company data better with Elastic Security

Not a day goes by where you don't read about companies falling victim to cybercrime. In this blog, you can read more about how Elastic solutions help you improve your security by detecting threats earlier.

Not a day goes by without reading about companies falling victim to cybercrime. Attacks primarily target network equipment and cloud infrastructure. However, malicious actors also infiltrate your systems through parties you are digitally connected to, such as partners and suppliers. In this blog, you'll read more about how Elastic's solutions help you improve your security by detecting threats earlier. This allows you to react faster and prevent damage.

A data breach or systems failing due to ransomware or malware: a cyberattack can have a significant impact on your business operations. In the annual Global Threat Report Elastic presents a few shocking developments:

  • There are an increasing number of ready-made open source tools available, making it relatively easy for newcomers to get started and launch attacks.
  • Due to the lowering of the barrier to entry of this software, a strong increase in ransomware-as-a-service campaigns is visible, or in other words, cybercrime to order.
  • Hackers are becoming increasingly adept at bypassing security systems, partly due to their knowledge of their vulnerabilities.

Attacks are more frequently targeting endpoints, where malicious code is installed. This, coupled with the increasing pressure on the labour market, presents organisations with an ever-growing challenge. It is becoming increasingly difficult to keep up with all threats. Furthermore, it is not easy to see what is happening in complex hybrid IT environments, with vast amounts of data stored across numerous systems and in various locations.

Prevent, detect, respond

Smart technology helps to regain control of security based on the principle of prevent, detect, and respond. You protect your people, applications, and devices better if you're not constantly putting out fires, but are able to prevent attacks. If you are affected anyway, you must be back up and running quickly. Elastic's central security platform fits perfectly with this philosophy, bringing together the following solutions:

  1. With SIEM (Security Information and Event Management), you monitor your entire environment 24/7. The solution collects, combines and analyses log data from your complete environment (from firewalls to, for example, IoT equipment and applications) and recognises and assesses aberrant patterns. No more blind spots, because every real threat is brought to light. Read more about SIEM at this blog.
  2. Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR): detecting and resolving suspicious activity on laptops, desktops and mobile devices.
  3. Cloud security: eliminating vulnerabilities in your cloud security. These can arise because your security configuration is not optimal. By then closing the gaps, you keep intruders out and your data safe in both cloud applications and containers.
  4. Threat hunting: through data analysis and machine learning, your experts gain insights that can uncover threats that traditional tools might overlook. Your people can then better assess these, as they have more context.

With all these solutions, there is no limit to the amount of data Elastic can process. A further characteristic is the high speed. This results in maximum visibility. Thanks to a clear dashboard, you maintain an overview. Built-in intelligence also ensures a reduction in the number of false positives, so you won't be overwhelmed by alerts.

AI as a virtual assistant

Speaking of intelligence: generative AI doesn't just help you assess whether an anomalous pattern in log data indicates malware or not. Artificial intelligence can also uncover deeper causes and be your virtual assistant, telling you how to remediate a threat if there isn't an automated solution for it.

An additional advantage of Elastic technology is that it's backed by its own knowledge centre: the Elastic Security Labs. More than forty experts work there for whom security is their core business. Furthermore, Elastic's software is open source, meaning there's an entire community that helps find solutions to threats.
