Elasticsearch Logging

On the one hand, you want to limit the retention of log data, as storage is often expensive and complex. On the other hand, you want to retain as much log data as possible so that you can carry out analyses based on historical data and identify trends.

Log data has several specific characteristics. A log line consists of a timestamp (date and time) and an event. This event represents a happening. This could be, for example, an error code that occurred at a specific moment (the timestamp), or for instance, a location fix for a vehicle or a person.

The solution provided by PuurData addresses the challenges associated with log storage. It allows many different types of log data to be stored in a single solution in a straightforward manner, whilst also enabling them to be searched at lightning speed. In addition to storing log data, the solution also allows visualisations to be created instantly, from which trends can be easily identified. Machine-learning algorithms, which can be implemented if required, ensure that log monitoring is automated. The solution is highly scalable and can be expanded to accommodate environments where billions of log lines and terabytes of data can be uploaded. The major advantage of this is that initial costs can be kept low; costs increase in line with usage. Depending on the environment, implementation takes just a few days.
