PS4 F1 Racing for Advanced Players! (part 2)<\/h2>\n

At PuurData\u2019s office, there is a sim racing rig with a PS4 and F1 2020. Codemasters\u2019 F1 games allow telemetry data to be transmitted via the UDP protocol. For our simulator, we have previously worked with telemetry data from F1 2017<\/a>.<\/p>\n

There have now been a number of updates to this game and some things have changed in the telemetry package that the game sends. We have created a new configuration file for F1 2020. With the updated config file, you will receive approximately 10,000 log lines per minute. This includes the status of the car, damage, temperature, speed, lap and sector times. Via the .conf file, it is possible to index the telemetry data from F1 2020 in Elasticsearch. This data can then be visualised via Dashboards or Canvas, for example. If you were to simulate a race weekend, you would receive over 150 million values!<\/p>\n

We have created a Canvas workspace to demonstrate data visualisation. Read below to learn how you can make one yourself!<\/p>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div> \n<\/div><\/div>

Steps<\/h2>\n

Step 1<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>Install the Elastic server. Ensure you have a server, preferably Linux, with at least 4GB of RAM, a few cores, and sufficient disk space. Install Elastic, Kibana, and Logstash on it. Instructions on how to do this are described on the website of Elastic<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Step 2<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>Download the \u2018conf\u2019 file for Logstash (HERE<\/strong>)<\/a> and adjust it (e.g. username and password) and ensure Logstash is started with this file.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Step 3<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>-> Download our Canvas workpad for an example of Canvas's capabilities. You can then (HERE<\/strong><\/a>) to find. Make sure that the data is indexed in: f1_data and that there is an index pattern called: f1*<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Fancy trying out our Canvas workpad? If so, set the auto-refresh interval to 1 or 5 seconds.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Step<\/strong>\u00a0<\/b><\/span>4<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>Configure the UDP port and IP address in the game on the PlayStation. This can be found on the screen by pressing \u2018options\u2019 while driving. Ensure the IP address is the address of the server and the UDP port must match the one in the \u2018conf\u2019 file.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
